Reflection 10 "What have you learned in this class and what is your most valuable experience?"

Reflection 10 "What have you learned in this class and what is your most valuable experience?"

I have learned in this class that technology is a part of teaching and as a teacher I must be willing to use it daily as an organization tool for myself as well as an instructional tool for the students. I’ve also learned that in order to teach one needs to learn how to create lesson plans. Lesson planning should be done a couple of days prior to a lesson. Lesson planning must be creating weeks ahead; so, the students have the appropriate information. There are many different types of lesson plans. The lesson plans that I have learned about are Behaviorist, Constructivist, and Inquiry-Based. All of these types of lesson plans stem from different educational philosophies. For example, the behaviorist lesson plan is pre-determined and measures student behavior. The constructivist lesson plan emphasizes that in order for students to learn, they must be grouped with others so that they may learn together. It also gives a lot of room for questioning from the students and places the student in the center of it all. The behaviorist lesson plan is not student-oriented, but teacher-oriented. The inquiry lesson plan also emphasizes inquiry and the scientific method to solve real life problems. There are many educational philosophies and I have learned that I do not need to lean towards one idea. I can combine the different philosophies in my teaching depending on the needs of the students; which is what teaching is all about. For me, it is all about the students and wanting them to learn on they own by guiding and as their reinforcement. I’m willing to change my teaching methods because society is ever-changing; as well as science. In order for me to teach, I must have my own educational philosophy. When it comes to teaching, the best way is to find out what it is, what the educational philosophies are, and who started them. Theorists such as B. F. Skinner and J. B. Watson gave us the way toward the Behaviorist Theory. They conducted experiments and have a lot of data that helps us to understand varies methods that comes with teaching by provided us with proof to what works and what does not. My most valuable experience is that I.ve learns that there are many ways to teach students and I can use my own methods, and I have also learned that as a teacher I must know my students and their needs.

Reflection 9 "What have you learned about the use of technology in the process of instructional delivery?"

Reflection 9 "What have you learned about the use of technology in the process of instructional delivery?"

What I have learned about the use of technology in the process of instructional delivery is that it is beneficial to both the teacher and students. Today, technology is used for just about everything, from banking to entertainment. It encompasses our everyday life because our society is changing and technology plays a major role in our society in order for our schools to operate properly. Computers have many programs which can be use everyday such as (Word!), PowerPoint, Excel etc. All these programs allow us to easily type our innermost thoughts feelings, and data, and it present it to others easily. The internet brought out a new way of communication. There is no such thing as writing letters or sending postcards anymore. Now, we can communicate live through chats, web cameras, and e-mail. With all of this new technology at our disposal, why not use it in the classroom? It is a lot more manageable, despite the objections from the older community. In a few lessons, it is easy to grasp how to use these programs and that is the reason why it is extremely important to introduce and use technology in the schools. If school doesn’t enforce these technologies in the classrooms, the students would not be able to use these technologies out in the real world because their lack of knowledge of technology would hinder their performance. I believe it is very important for parents to make sure there is a computer in the home setting because when it comes to children it is important for them to understand the essential of technology. Many theorists believe that it all begins in the classroom, so if society is using technology, the schools must go above and beyond to introduce something new to offer to technology. Now, many people can also obtain a degree participating in online classes become it is more convenient for them this is also a good thing, because that way, more people are able to take college courses without having to step out of their homes. Our world is very large, there are many different types of people living in this world and we should be able to connect with them and learn about them. When I have my classroom, I would like my students to to connect with others from different countries because it will open their eyes more by learning there more out there than just the United States which will lead then to have an open mind. Technology is great for instructional delivery and will present information with ease.
