Equal education
Education has always been a major part of the American culture; some Americans were given more opportunities to receive the best education than others. Caucasians has always been given the best opportunities than minorities. I could not imagine going to school accompanied by an armed guard every day, would be a very distracting and would be very disturbing. I would not be able to concentrate on the lecture the teacher is given because I would be too concern with my safety instead of concentrating on my education. Being involved in a system where you are not welcome, could be very devastating and emotionally draining. Although it may seem like the worst that could’ve happened to a person, but imagine the alternative of going back to a Negros school where the building is a shack not fit to teach in or the basement of a church, reading from outdated books and teachers who were not properly trained, even though I am not welcome to this school this is my one chance of a decent education.
The racism was so hard that teachers who have been teaching at the school for decades just quit because they did not want to teach black children. It is a shame that people can be so hateful as to be hated not because of anything in particular but for something that a person cannot help and that is the race they were born into. An education is the most important credential a person can have; an education can equal wealth and status in society. Whites have figured out that there is only one way to keep a race down and that is to deny them education and opportunities. It breaks my heart to see just how black kids are taking education for granted. Previous generations fought hard and gave their lives for the rights that some of us now don’t appreciates. And we have read throughout history how difficult it was for a black person to have an education, since the previous generations have open the door for us, we all should take that opportunity the take full advantage of a good education which will benefit us in the long run.
